The Four Disciplines

Lance
The traditional discipline. The rider charges at full gallop and uses a lance to pick up a wooden tent peg from the ground. The lance is also used to thread through a suspended ring. Judged on accuracy, style, and speed.

Sword
The sword is used for two tasks — cutting a lemon hung at height, and picking the tent peg from the ground. Precision, blade control, and clean execution determine the score.

Ring
A small ring is suspended at a height and the rider must thread a lance cleanly through it while charging at full speed. Accuracy and split-second control are everything.

A lemon is hung at a height and the rider uses a sword to slice through it cleanly at full gallop. The precision and cleanness of the cut determines the outcome.
